Looking for a quick, inexpensive decorating or gift idea for Christmas?  I wanted to make some unique, rustic gifts for my friends and came up with this idea.  I bought 2 yards of burlap at my local fabric store which allowed me to make 3 long tablerunners.  Mine are aproximately 16″ x 85″ – perfect for a table that seats 6 to 10 people.

I stitched about 1/2″ from the edge, all the way around each one.  I then pulled a few threads off the runners so it looks like this.
I chose to use a snowflake stencil that I made (I use it for my Christmas gift bags) I used acrylic paint in Pearl.  Make sure you use a stencil brush and dab the paint using an up and down motion.  Carefully lift up your stencil and place it down again until you have as many snowflakes as you want.  Let the runner dry overnight.
I rolled the tablerunner around a cardboard tube – no wrapping required!  Shown with a couple tea towels I also made (with some bath salts tucked inside) The gift cards I printed on card stock.  You can find more gift wrapping ideas here
