I started making my own pizza dough a while back as just another way to cut back on processed foods. I use this one and love it but still wanted to find a whole wheat one. Well, I ended up creating one myself and am quite pleased with it! Let me know if you try it. 🙂
Ingredients:
2 cups Whole wheat flour
1 cup All-purpose flour
1 tsp Cane Sugar
1 tbsp Olive Oil
1 tbsp Rapid rise yeast
1-2 tbsp Honey (not pictured)
1 1/2 cups Warm water (not pictured)
1: In a bowl, combine 1 tsp sugar in 1 1/2 cups warm water. Add your honey. Stir until the sugar dissolved then sprinkle 1 tbsp dry active yeast on top. Don’t mix it, just let it stand for 8-10 min.
After 10min:
2. Add 1 tbsp olive oil. Then add all of the flour. Stir until it’s all combined.
3. Spread out some white flour onto a flat, clean surface. Your dough will look pretty dry at this point but that’s okay.
4. Kneed your dough for around 8-10 min until it is a smooth looking ball.
5. Add some oil to a clean bowl. Add your dough, flipping it once so both the top and bottom are oiled. The oil will prevent it from sticking to your bowl.
6. Cover your dough and let it rise for an hour.
7. After it has risen for an hour, punch it down to get rid of the air.
8. Allow the ball to rise for another 45min or so, uncovered. Then split your dough in half (for a thinner crust) and stretch each piece out to form your pizza crust.
8. Add your sauce/toppings.
left pizza: Pesto, mozzarella cheese, tomato, goat cheese, red pepper, red onion + mushrooms
right pizza: olive oil with garlic, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, feta, tomato, turkey and ham
