August/September is the hottest time of the year where I  live (Southern California) so Fall outfits are a ways away but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been shopping for the trends already.  Below are my top picks  for this Fall. Pick up any fashion magazine and you’ll see these all over the pages! All images are from Asos.com.

  • The peplum shape is still going strong and is very flattering! It is tighter along the small waist and then flares out over the stomach.
  • For pants, look for a wide variety of coloured, wax finishes and prints!
  • Button down shirts are a great staple. Look for loose fabrics and details like decorated collars, piping and bows.
  • Leather, faux or real, is making a big appearance from skirts to tops to shoes! Try it in new ways like leather sleeves or panels in a skirt. Motorcycle jackets are also a great choice.
  • The umbrella skirt or any full shaped skirt can work in any season. Pair it with tights and booties to make it feel more Fall appropriate.
  • Dresses are kicking it up a notch with show stopping embellishments!
  • Oxblood is definitely the biggest colour trend for this Fall. Think of it as a very dark red wine shade.

  • Loafers and the “smoking slipper” trend is still going strong and shows no sign of stopping.
  • I’m a big fan of the sneaker wedge trend. Normally I don’t like any sort of sports shoe heel hybrid but I’m loving this and already go myself a pair from gojane.com.
  • Cap toe shoes are a trend that works for a wide variety of people since you can find it in many styles from pumps to flats. It’s also a very easy DIY project.
  • Pick up some booties with some Western flare to them. It gives them an approachable, casual feel that  works so well with skinny jeans or a cardigan/summer dress look.
