As part of recently becoming vegan, I started to taker a closer look at what was in not only the things I eat and drink but my makeup, skincare, haircare etc. I prefer to buy all beauty items vegan but at the very least, they need to be cruelty-free. A tube a lipstick is not worth a dog’s suffering to me. So I created a list of popular, recognizable brands that either do test on animals, do not test on animals or are vegan. It’s unfortunate that so many companies do still test on animals (or are owned by companies like Proctor and Gamble that do) but thankfully there are many that don’t. There are also a lot of options out there for vegan beauty products many of which are natural and better for you anyway! So here are my lists along with some great vegan finds!
Brands that DO test on animals:
Clean & Clear
Brands that DO NOT test on animals:
Abercrombie & Fitch
Bath & Body Works
The Body Shop
Crabtree & Evelyn
Kiss My Face
Trader Joe’s Company
wet n wild
Whole Foods Market
Yes to Carrots
Both lists above are according to PETA.
Vegan brands (contain no animal products and are cruelty free):
Lush (most; clearly listed)
Kiss My Face
Madd Style Cosmetics (on Etsy.com)
Minna Cosmetics (on Etsy.com)
Naked Elements (on Etsy)
Urban Decay (some vegan; clearly listed)
Beauty Without Cruelty
The list above is according to My Makeup Mirror.
