Have you made any new year resolutions this year? I made a pretty long list including things like trying dry brushing and making more juice/veggie smoothies. One thing I always include in my list, is more ways to be eco-friendly because there are so many things we can do! The little things really do make a difference, whether it’s just for you or for the entire planet. So here are just some of the changes you can make in 2011 to be more eco-friendly!
20 Ways to Be More Eco-Friendly
- Shop locally.
- Make your own chemical-free cleaners.
- Make or buy re-useable bags (grocery, snack, sandwich etc).
- Use power strips for things that can ALL be turned off when not in use like printers, phone chargers etc.
- Take shorter showers.
- Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth.
- Use old magazines or newspapers as packing paper rather than buying packing peanuts.
- Plant an herb garden.
- Switch to fluorescent light bulbs.
- Wash clothes in cold water.
- Recycle!
- Bring your own mug to places like Starbucks.
- Adjust your thermostat- lower in the winter and higher in the summer.
- Set your computer to go into “sleep mode” when you are away from it for longer than 15min.
- Host “swap parties” where friends can bring movies, clothes etc to trade.
